5 Ways You Can Help

Volunteer

Welcome to the Wiesley campaign! We are so pleased to have you on our team. We’re fighting this battle to return high-wage jobs to Dallas and Boone counties, to support our children as they strive for excellence, and to ensure that public safety standards are met. By volunteering you are taking an extremely important step towards making sure that the values we share have a voice in the Statehouse.

To volunteer please email Russ at rwiesley@mchsi.com with the subject line ‘volunteer’. If you have a special skill or something specific that you would like to do for the campaign, please indicate that in your message. Russ, or a staff member, will contact you to discuss your role in the campaign.

Make a Contribution

Making a contribution of any amount will be invaluable in helping Russ win and help the Democrats take back the Iowa House of Representatives. Russ’s opponent is well funded by big interest so any amount of money you can spare will help!

To make a contribution please send an email to Russ at rwiesley@mchsi.com and we will send you a contribution envelope.

Write a Letter to Your Newspaper

Write a letter to your local newspaper explaining why Russ is the candidate to vote for this November.

Become a Precinct Captain

Precinct captains are the building blocks of our campaign. The nature of the Precinct Captain’s contribution to the campaign is in large part defined by the individual, but all share a similar set of duties. They entail:

  1. Making 15 phone calls (or more) each week off a list provided by the campaign manager.
  2. Recruiting a small team (3-4 people) to help on election day.
All in all, these activities should not take more than one hour per week, although additional volunteering is always appreciated by the campaign. The campaign manager is responsible for getting you all the information you need, and doing so in a timely fashion. You will always be able to email or call the campaign staff with any questions, or to report anything you see or hear. Precinct Captains are the eyes and ears of the campaign- we are always interested in what’s going on in your community, news coverage of the campaign, and your thoughts and opinions.

Request an Absentee Ballot

Help Russ win- vote early! To request an absentee ballot please contact rwiesley@mchsi.com with the subject line ‘absentee ballot’ and we will either send you or hand deliver the necessary form.

Reasons to Vote Early

  • The weather may be bad on Election Day, preventing them from voting at the polls.
  • Everyone has a busy schedule and it may be impossible to get away from a meeting or other engagement on Election Day.
  • Emergencies occur when we least expect and are just as likely to occur on Election Day as any other.
  • Voting early allows more time for active Democrats to volunteer on Election Day.
Voting early takes you off of phone lists. Therefore, you will receive substantially less phone calls leading up to the election.
